DRESS CODE IT Force Series Updates "Shadow IT / Shadow AI" Feature. Now Detects Logins Using Personal Email Addresses

Dress Code Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Yuki Ejiri) has updated the "Shadow IT / Shadow AI" feature in the DRESS CODE "IT Force" series, which promotes integrated IT asset management. This update introduces new functionality to detect the personal email addresses used at login. By making logins to web and AI services via personal email addresses visible, organizations can prevent information leakage risks and the emergence of unauthorized accounts.

Background

With the widespread adoption of AI services, there is a growing trend of employees using web and AI services with email addresses not authorized by their company—such as personal email addresses. As a result, many organizations face challenges such as "business data being handled under accounts outside corporate management," "continued access via personal accounts after resignation," and "inability to identify users."

In particular, in environments where different browsers are used—such as those combining Google Workspace and Microsoft 365—tracking which IDs are being used becomes even more difficult. This update was implemented to address the hard-to-detect issue of "logins using personal email addresses."

Feature Update Overview

The system can now obtain and evaluate the email address actually used by an employee at login, and automatically detect IDs that are not under corporate management. By cross-referencing with IDs managed in DRESS CODE, logins from unregistered IDs are detected.

This resolves challenges such as early detection of business use via personal email addresses and identification of unmanaged IDs.

Key Features

Shadow IT / Shadow AI Detection Flow

Detection of Logins Using Personal Email Addresses

The system retrieves the email address used when logging into web and AI services, and automatically detects addresses not managed in DRESS CODE. Login activity via personal email addresses becomes fully visible.

Reduction of Unknown-User Access

Usage across multiple email addresses and different browser environments can now be tracked at the individual employee level. This improves the accuracy of user identification and enables more precise detection of risks posed by former employees continuing to access services.
